DEFEND OUR COURTS

| Judicial Elections | Philadelphia, PA | 2025 |

Defending Pennsylvania's Courts - and Winning Big

Defend Our Courts is a Philadelphia-based independent expenditure committee of citizens, political strategists, and campaign veterans focused exclusively on judicial races in swing states. In 2025, the organization mounted a $5 million grassroots-funded campaign to defend the pro-democracy majority on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court - three sitting justices facing retention elections in a state Trump carried in 2024 and where Republicans were openly targeting the judiciary as a vehicle for locking in political advantage. With three of the most competitive congressional seats in the country on the line in Pennsylvania in 2026, and the road to the House running through the state, the stakes for these retention races extended far beyond the courthouse. Defend Our Courts raised from over 88,000 grassroots donors and ran a canvassing-heavy field program in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania. The result: all three justices were retained by margins of 22 points or more - a sweep that preserved judicial independence in one of the country's most consequential states and established a model the organization is now taking national into Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
